This medication should not be used in patients with bowel obstruction, gastrointestinal blockage, perforation, toxic colitis, or toxic megacolon. It should be administered with caution, especially in severe ulcerative colitis patients. Individuals allergic to this medication or its components should not take it. Additionally, it should be avoided in cases of suspected gastrointestinal blockage or perforation, dehydration, or serious congestive heart failure. Patients with active malignancy or colon disorders that could cause serious mucosal damage, patients with gastric paralysis, and those with bowel obstruction should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, unconscious patients, children under the age of 19, unexplained abdominal pain patients, and those with hereditary fructose intolerance are also not suitable for this medication. Patients with gastrointestinal ulcers, nausea and vomiting, patients with acute abdominal conditions requiring surgery, patients with rhabdomyolysis, and those with active inflammatory bowel disease should not take this medication. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with intestinal strictures or severe constipation, elderly or frail patients, those with impaired vomiting reflexes or altered consciousness, patients with acute severe inflammatory diseases, and those with dysphagia. Patients experiencing significant abdominal bloating or pain, those with severe ulcerative colitis, patients with renal impairment or inflammatory bowel disease, and those taking medications that may affect fluid or electrolyte balance should also be monitored closely. This medication may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal bloating, abdominal pain, discomfort, rectal discomfort, bloody stools, belching, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, sleep disturbances, thirst, chills, as well as signs of hepatic dysfunction and thirst. Before and during use, it is essential to monitor bowel movements carefully, as bowel activity typically begins within approximately 1 hour after taking the medication. If significant abdominal bloating or pain occurs, the speed of administration should be slowed or temporarily halted, and medical advice should be sought if necessary. If symptoms of fluid or electrolyte imbalance appear, condition should be confirmed through blood tests and appropriate treatment should be provided. Patients who are frail or have poor kidney function should have regular checks for electrolyte and kidney function. This medication can cause diarrhea, so adequate hydration is important. It is advisable to have a light meal before taking it and to finish eating at least 1 hour before taking the medication. Avoid solid foods just before taking this medicine. Non-absorbable sugars such as sorbitol in this medication can produce gas in the intestines, posing a risk of explosion when using an electric cautery. During colonoscopy, the risk can be reduced by using CO2 gas for insufflation. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should use this medication only if the diagnostic benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Safety and efficacy have not been confirmed in pediatric patients, and caution is required in elderly patients as they may be more sensitive to medications. In case of overdose, there is a risk of dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, or decreased blood volume, so immediate medical treatment should be sought if symptoms occur. This medication should not be mixed with other ingredients or flavors, and should be taken immediately after dissolving it in water. Any solution not used within 25 hours should be discarded.
