For patients with essential hypertension, this medication helps effectively control blood pressure and maintain cardiovascular health. It is also used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death from cardiovascular diseases in high-risk diabetes patients who have a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attacks, or evidence of end-organ damage and cannot use ACE inhibitors. In summary, this medication is effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Essential Hypertension Take 40 mg once daily with water, regardless of meals. It may also be effective at 20 mg once daily for some patients, and the dose can be increased up to 80 mg once daily if necessary. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. It is not safe for women who are pregnant, potentially pregnant, or breastfeeding to take this medication. Patients with severely impaired liver function or bile secretion issues should avoid taking this medication. Individuals with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this medication should not take it. Patients with a history of serious allergic reactions such as angioedema should avoid this medication as well. Patients with diabetes or moderate to severe renal impairment should avoid using this medication in combination with certain other medications and should take it cautiously under medical supervision. Elderly individuals, those with compromised renal function, patients with hyperkalemia, and patients with mildly impaired liver function should exercise special caution when taking this medication. Those who have heart or vascular issues or gastrointestinal diseases should also be careful when using this medication. This medication lowers blood pressure, which can lead to symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and fainting, so caution is advised. While taking this medication, serum potassium levels and renal function should be regularly monitored for abnormalities. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, certain diuretics, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so consulting with a physician or pharmacist is necessary when taking it together. Caution is needed when driving or operating dangerous machinery due to the risk of dizziness or fainting. In case of overdose, symptoms such as blood pressure drop, arrhythmia, dizziness, renal impairment, etc., may occur, so immediate contact with a medical institution is necessary. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. This medication contains sorbitol, making it unsuitable for patients with certain fructose intolerance.
