Treatment of essential hypertension
Who takes it
Adults · Children
Adult dose
The recommended initial dose for adults is 10mg once daily, regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled at this dose, it may be increased to 20mg once daily. If additional blood pressure reduction is required, it may be increased up to a maximum of 40mg once daily. The antihypertensive effect will be observed within 2 weeks of starting treatment, with maximum effect seen after about 8 weeks. If blood pressure control is not achieved with monotherapy, thiazide diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide may be combined for treatment. For adherence improvement, it is recommended to take the medication at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). In patients at risk of intravascular volume depletion (e.g., patients on diuretics, particularly those with renal impairment), it is recommended to start treatment at a lower dose while monitoring their condition closely.
Child dose
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established.

Efficacy & effects

Treatment of essential hypertension

  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

Essential hypertension is a condition characterized by persistently high blood pressure, which puts strain on the heart and blood vessels. This medication helps lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications. With consistent use, it can help maintain health through blood pressure control. It also contributes to the prevention of serious complications such as heart attacks and strokes. When used appropriately according to the patient's condition, effective blood pressure control can be expected. It is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
