Improvement of essential hypertension
Used to control essential hypertension within the normal range to prevent complications.
The recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily, regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dose may be increased to 20 mg once daily. If additional blood pressure reduction is needed, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily. No dose adjustment is necessary for elderly patients (aged 65 and over). This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It is contraindicated in individuals with allergies to the ingredients, pregnant or breastfeeding women, dialysis patients, severely impaired liver function patients, biliary obstruction patients, and those with certain hereditary lactose metabolism disorders. Patients with low blood volume or low sodium may experience hypotensive symptoms; therefore, careful evaluation and attention are required before taking this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function, kidney transplant recipients, renal artery hypertension patients, those at risk of hyperkalemia, and patients with aortic or mitral stenosis should exercise particular caution when taking this medication. This drug may cause dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating hazardous machinery. While this drug tends to be relatively safe in various clinical trials, mild side effects such as dizziness, headaches, back pain, and indigestion may occur. If symptoms such as chronic diarrhea or weight loss occur, discontinue the medication and consult with a physician. Caution is needed when taking potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements together, as blood potassium levels may increase. Taking this medication with other antihypertensive agents may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects. Co-administration with lithium may increase lithium levels and lead to toxicity, so it is advisable not to take them together. Combining with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may pose a risk of decreased kidney function, so kidney function should be monitored regularly. Taking two or more drugs of the same class as this may increase the risks of hypotension, hyperkalemia, and worsening kidney function; therefore, attention is required. If this medication is taken during pregnancy, serious problems may occur for the fetus; therefore, those planning to become pregnant or currently pregnant should definitely consult a doctor. Breastfeeding women should consider stopping breastfeeding or discontinuing the medication, as it may be transmitted through breast milk, potentially causing adverse reactions in infants. The safety for children has not been established, so caution is necessary when administering to children. Elderly patients may have increased blood concentration of this drug, necessitating dose adjustment and caution. In case of overdose, hypotension and palpitations may occur, and immediate treatment is required if symptoms are severe.
Urticaria, severe swelling (including angioedema and facial swelling), chest pain, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rashes with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, severe skin reactions, asthma attacks, respiratory issues, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and extremely severe headaches, thunderclap headache, seizures.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture, at a temperature between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will maintain the medication's efficacy and prevent deterioration.
