How to take

Adult dose

The recommended initial dose is 10mg once daily, administered regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dose may be increased to 20mg once daily. For additional blood pressure reduction, the maximum dose may be increased to 40mg once daily. If blood pressure is not controlled with the medication alone, thiazide diuretics can be used in combination. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients who are allergic to any component of this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding, undergoing renal dialysis, suffering from severe liver disease, experiencing bile duct obstruction, or those with lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with low blood volume or salt deficiency may experience hypotension; it is important to verify their condition before taking the medication and to take appropriate action if hypotensive symptoms occur. Patients with impaired renal function or those who have received kidney transplants should have their renal function and electrolyte levels monitored regularly through blood tests, and patients with renal artery stenosis should also exercise caution. This medication lowers blood pressure, which may cause dizziness, so caution is necessary when driving or operating hazardous machinery. During treatment, be careful about taking potassium-containing medications, as they may increase potassium levels in the blood, and using other antihypertensive medications may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect. Taking this medication with lithium or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may increase the risk of renal impairment, so consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. This medication should be avoided during pregnancy as it can lead to hypotension, decreased renal function, or skeletal abnormalities in the fetus; it is important to discontinue use as soon as possible during early pregnancy. Breastfeeding women should be aware that this medication may be passed to breast milk, potentially leading to adverse symptoms in the infant, necessitating the cessation of breastfeeding or the medication. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been adequately established, so caution should be exercised when considering use in children. Elderly patients may experience elevated drug concentration, so caution is warranted when prescribing. Overdose may result in hypotension and palpitations; if symptoms are severe, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is believed to have a low risk of carcinogenic or genotoxic effects even with long-term use; however, if any abnormal symptoms arise during treatment, please consult a healthcare professional immediately.
