How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. Swallow this medicine whole; do not crush or chew it. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in certain patients. For example, patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients, patients with symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, patients with severe liver dysfunction, and pregnant or potentially pregnant women should not take this drug. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, and patients taking certain medications should use this drug with caution. Specifically, those taking blood pressure-lowering medications, PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, or alpha-1 blockers may have an increased risk of side effects and should be carefully monitored. While taking this medication, various side effects such as dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, arrhythmia, digestive disorders, and skin rashes may occur, so immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is advised if any abnormal symptoms appear. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop excessively, so the prescribed dosage should be strictly adhered to, and caution should be exercised with blood pressure changes when altering positions. Care should be taken to avoid accidents due to dizziness while driving or performing hazardous tasks. This medication alleviates symptoms rather than treating the underlying cause, so if no effect is observed or the symptoms worsen, other treatment options should be considered. Additionally, this medication should not be chewed or opened; it should be swallowed whole with water for proper absorption. Keep out of reach of children and avoid transferring to another container for safety. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and children under 18 should not use this medication as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients, often with decreased kidney function, should start with a lower dose and gradually increase it while monitoring their condition; if there is no effect, they should stop taking it and seek alternative treatments. Lastly, there may be interactions with other medications taken with this drug, so patients must inform their healthcare provider of any medications they are using.
