Candidiasis is a type of vaginitis caused by the excessive proliferation of Candida bacteria in the vagina. This medication is used for the treatment of candidiasis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

100 mg: Typically, 1 dose of 100 mg clotrimazole should be inserted deeply into the vagina at bedtime for 6 consecutive days. For short-term treatment, typically, 1 dose of 200 mg clotrimazole should be inserted deeply into the vagina at bedtime for 3 consecutive days. 200 mg: Typically, 1 dose of 200 mg clotrimazole should be inserted deeply into the vagina at bedtime for 3 consecutive days. 500 mg: Typically, 1 dose of 500 mg clotrimazole should be inserted deeply into the vagina at bedtime for 1 day.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who have allergies or have experienced allergic reactions to the main ingredient or any components. This medication contains lactose, so those with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion should not take it. When using this medication alongside the immunosuppressant tacrolimus, blood levels may increase, so it is essential to regularly check blood levels under a doctor's supervision. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before using this medication, and it is advisable to avoid the use of insertion devices during pregnancy. It is also prudent for breastfeeding women to discuss the use of this medication with a healthcare professional beforehand. If there are any unusual symptoms such as sudden allergic reactions, breathing difficulties, severe skin rashes, abdominal pain, or vaginal bleeding while using this medication, it must be stopped immediately and medical consultation should be sought. It is advisable not to use this medication during menstruation, and additional oral treatment may be required for the treatment of vaginal infections. To prevent reinfection, personal hygiene must be emphasized, and during use, tampons, vaginal cleansers, or other vaginal insertion products should be avoided. During the use of this medication, vaginal intercourse should be avoided, and partners are recommended to undergo treatment to prevent infection. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and it should never be swallowed. If high fever, lower abdominal pain, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary.
