Essential hypertension is a condition of elevated blood pressure occurring without any specific cause, and this medication is used to lower blood pressure, protecting the heart and blood vessels, and preventing complications.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended initial dose is 10mg once daily, taken regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled at this dosage, it may be increased to 20mg once daily, with a maximum increase to 40mg once daily. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if administered to women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, thus it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergies to any components of this drug, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing renal dialysis, those with severe liver dysfunction, patients with biliary obstruction, and those with certain genetic lactose intolerance disorders. In patients with low blood volume or sodium deficiency, low blood pressure may occur; therefore, conditions must be thoroughly assessed before administration, and appropriate measures should be taken if hypotension occurs. During the use of this medication, drug interactions may occur if combined with other antihypertensives, potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., thus it is essential to consult with healthcare professionals. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as chronic diarrhea or weight loss occur, discontinue use of this medication and consult a physician, and if symptoms of intestinal vascular edema are observed, treatment should be discontinued immediately and further observation is required. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with a physician before taking this medication, and if breastfeeding, consideration should be given to discontinuing the medication or breastfeeding during treatment. Safety in children has not been fully established, so it should be administered with caution in pediatric patients. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or palpitations may occur; therefore, it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage and notify healthcare providers immediately if any adverse symptoms arise.
