This medication is used to treat osteoarthritis of the knee and shoulder periarthritis, specifically to address the inflammation and pain in the knee and shoulder joints.

How it is given

Adult administration

Typically, for adults, administer 1 syringe into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa, or biceps tendon sheath) once a week for 3 consecutive weeks. Adjust the frequency of administration according to the symptoms. This medication is administered intra-articularly, thus strict aseptic technique must be followed.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components. It must be used with caution in patients who have hypersensitivity to other medications, liver dysfunction, or pre-existing skin conditions or infections at the injection site. Rarely, allergy reactions, facial swelling, rash, or itching may occur, and if such symptoms arise, usage should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment sought. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, or warmth may occur at the injection site, so caution is needed. Additionally, symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or fever may manifest. Using this medication in severely inflamed joints may worsen symptoms, hence it is advisable to administer it after inflammation has subsided. Stabilizing the joint area after administration may help. This medication must be injected accurately into the joint; leakage outside the joint can cause pain, so caution is necessary. Sterile conditions must be maintained during injection, and if symptoms do not improve, administration should be discontinued after 3 doses. It may be necessary to aspirate excess joint fluid beforehand. This medication must not be injected intravenously or into the eye, and it is recommended to use a needle of approximately 22-23 gauge. Also, caution is advised as mixing with certain disinfectants may cause precipitation. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only after careful consideration of the benefits and risks, while nursing mothers should avoid its use. The safety for pediatric patients is not established, so it should be used with caution only when absolutely necessary. Elderly individuals should be careful as their bodily functions may be weakened.
