Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medication is administered orally once a day and should be taken at the same time each day. If necessary, it can be administered twice a day. Dose escalation: The maximum daily dosage is 20mg, increased by 5mg weekly over the first 3 weeks. - First week (Days 1 to 7): 5mg once daily - Second week (Days 8 to 14): 10mg once daily - Third week (Days 15 to 21): 15mg once daily -
This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to the ingredients or those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction. It must be administered with caution in patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, and those taking certain NMDA antagonists. In addition, patients expected to have changes in urinary acidity or those with recent heart disease should be careful. When taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur. If symptoms worsen, consult a healthcare professional. There may be interactions with other medications, so it is essential to inform your doctor, especially if taking NMDA antagonists, antipsychotic drugs, muscle relaxants, or anticoagulants. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the use of this medication, as it may affect the fetus or infant, and discontinuing breastfeeding is recommended. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children or adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established. In cases of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms may appear, and immediate medical attention should be sought if suspected. This medication may affect patients' concentration and reaction speed, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Store this medication out of reach of children and keep it in its original container for safety.
Seizures, heart failure, hypertension, venous thrombosis/thromboembolism, shortness of breath, pancreatitis, elevated liver function test values, hepatitis, rash, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, painful mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), profound lethargy, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, altered consciousness, visual disturbances
