Improvement of blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise therapy to help control blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is administered when a patient has never been treated with diabetes medication before or when blood glucose control is difficult with monotherapy. Additionally, it can be used as a substitute for combined treatment with Linagliptin and Metformin. If blood glucose control is insufficient even when using insulin with Metformin, this medication can be co-administered with insulin. In cases where control is difficult with the maximum recommended dose of Metformin and Empagliflozin, this medication is used alongside Empagliflozin to manage blood glucose levels. This medication is used to improve blood glucose control in various treatment situations.
This medication is administered twice a day with meals. To reduce gastrointestinal side effects related to Metformin usage, dosage increases should be gradual. 1. In case of not currently being treated with Metformin: The initial dose of this medication is 2.5/500 mg, taken 2 tablets daily (1 tablet at a time), and can be increased to 2.5/1000 mg, taken 1 tablet twice daily.
This medication has been reported to cause serious side effects, including lactic acidosis, and caution is required. It should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of its components or in patients with type 1 diabetes, lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic precomatose state. It should also not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function or in conditions where acute renal function deterioration is anticipated, severe infections, or dehydration. Patients with liver dysfunction or severe gastrointestinal disorders, as well as those with acute alcohol intoxication or alcoholism, should not take this medication. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and women who may become pregnant should not take this drug. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so blood glucose levels should be carefully monitored, especially when used with sulfonylureas or insulin. To reduce the risk of lactic acidosis, kidney function should be regularly checked, and if any unusual symptoms occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. Patients with poor heart function should be administered this drug with caution, and it should be temporarily discontinued before and after examinations that involve iodine-containing contrast agents. It is recommended to discontinue this drug for a certain period before and after surgery. This medication may cause rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis and bullous pemphigoid, so if severe abdominal pain or skin abnormalities occur during treatment, consult a physician immediately. Vitamin B12 deficiency may occur, so it is advisable to monitor serum vitamin B12 levels during long-term use. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is imperative to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. In the elderly or children, the decision to administer this drug should consider renal function and safety. It is safer not to use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal decontamination and possibly hemodialysis or other treatments may be necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored away from moisture, and not transferred to other containers.
Urticaria, angioedema, lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, bullous pemphigoid, liver function abnormalities (including abnormal liver function tests and hepatitis), severe allergic reactions (including urticaria and angioedema), severe skin adverse reactions (including rash, erythema, bullous pemphigoid), serious neurological symptoms (including cerebral infarction, Alzheimer's dementia, drowsiness, subdural effusion, confusion), respiratory problems (including asthma, dyspnea, respiratory distress, chronic obstruction).
Rhinitis, taste disturbance, cough, decreased appetite, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, oral ulcer formation, abnormal liver function tests, hepatitis, pruritus, erythema, rash, severe and disabling arthralgia, rhabdomyolysis, increased lipase, increased amylase, hypoglycemia (when used with sulfonylureas), increased triglycerides in blood, decreased hemoglobin, increased potassium in blood, increased creatinine in blood, increased creatine phosphokinase in blood.

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture; therefore, it should be stored in a sealed container. It is preferable to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This way, the efficacy of the medication can be well preserved and deterioration prevented.
