Improvement of chronic arterial occlusion (ulcers, pain, etc.) and prevention of recurrent cerebral infarction
This medicine is used to effectively improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers and pain, as well as coldness associated with chronic arterial occlusion, and to prevent recurrence after a cerebral infarction.
As cilostazol, the typical adult dose is 100 mg taken orally twice a day. Dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms.
This medication may increase heart rate, which can pose a risk of angina symptoms; therefore, any symptoms such as chest pain should be carefully evaluated by a physician. It should not be used in patients with a high risk of bleeding or those who have recently experienced a hemorrhagic stroke or undergone surgery. Patients with heart failure, a history of allergic reactions to this medication, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also avoid taking it. Patients on medications affecting blood clotting, women during menstruation, and patients with heart diseases should use this medication with caution. Caution is also necessary for patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart rhythm issues. Serious side effects such as bleeding, blood cell reduction, pneumonia, heart problems, and liver function abnormalities may occur and anyone experiencing symptoms should inform medical personnel immediately. Dizziness may occur, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. This medication is metabolized in the liver, and co-administration with certain drugs may raise blood concentration and increase the risk of side effects; therefore, it is essential to consult with a physician regarding co-medications. Women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant should not take this medication, and breastfeeding women should discontinue nursing while on this drug. The safety of this medication has not been adequately established in children, and its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to decreased body function. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, rapid heartbeat may occur; immediate medical attention should be sought.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest pain, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, high fever, severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory difficulties accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice of skin or eyes, generalized lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, vision abnormalities, paralysis, significant decrease in urine output, generalized severe swelling
