How to take

Adult dose

If blood pressure is not controlled, it may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily, 1 tablet. For patients with renal impairment, the standard dose is given when creatinine clearance is 30 mL/min or more. Use of this medication is not recommended for patients with liver impairment.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It is safe not to administer this medication to patients with certain diseases or conditions. For example, patients with severely impaired kidney function, severe liver dysfunction, and those with certain allergy histories should not use this medication. Patients with very low blood pressure or reduced blood volume, patients with renal artery problems, and patients with liver diseases should exercise special caution when using this medication. During treatment, blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be regularly monitored, particularly any fluctuations in potassium levels. Due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, electrolyte imbalance, increased blood sugar, and elevated uric acid levels may occur, so any symptoms should be discussed with a physician. This medication has a strong effect on lowering blood pressure, which may lead to dizziness or drowsiness, especially shortly after starting treatment, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so especially when combined with potassium supplements, blood pressure medications, diuretics, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, consultation with a physician is necessary. This medication is not recommended for use in children and adolescents, and older individuals may experience side effects slightly more frequently, necessitating caution. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure and cardiac function abnormalities may occur, thus requiring immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. During treatment, if there are plans for pregnancy or if pregnancy is suspected, consultation with a physician is essential. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to either stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. This medication may cause sensitivity to sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer; therefore, limiting sun exposure and frequently checking skin condition is important. Finally, this medication should be stored in its original container, out of the reach of children, and it is safest not to change the container arbitrarily.
