View approved original text

This medication is used for the treatment of idiopathic Parkinson's disease. Initially, it can be used alone or as an adjunct therapy with dopamine agonists. Additionally, for motor fluctuation symptoms, known as 'symptoms gradually appearing when the medication effect wears off,' it helps alleviate symptoms when combined with levodopa. This effectively improves motor impairments and symptoms caused by Parkinson's disease.

Moreover, this medication should not be used if currently taking or if stopped taking other MAO inhibitors within the past 2 weeks. It should also be avoided if taking certain medications such as pethidine, tramadol, or dextromethorphan, or if stopped taking them within 2 weeks. In particular, serious side effects can occur when used in combination with other MAO inhibitors, certain pain relievers, antidepressants, cold medications, or sympathomimetics, so it is crucial to consult a doctor. Also, caution should be exercised regarding changes in drug concentration when taken with medications affecting the CYP1A2 enzyme. Use during pregnancy or lactation should be approached with caution.
