(Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia) and treatment of cardiovascular disease risk reduction
This medicine is used only for patients who need to use the two drugs, telmisartan and rosuvastatin, simultaneously. Telmisartan is mainly used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality from cardiovascular diseases in patients aged 55 and older with essential hypertension and a high risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is also effective in cases where ACE inhibitors cannot be used. Meanwhile, rosuvastatin calcium helps treat hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia that are difficult to control with diet and exercise. It also contributes to delaying the progression of atherosclerosis by lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in specific high-risk groups. By combining these two components, it effectively manages both hypertension and hyperlipidemia to improve cardiovascular health.
Telmisartan: For essential hypertension, it is recommended to take 40 mg orally once daily, and for some patients, 20 mg once daily may also be effective. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 80 mg once daily. To reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, it is recommended to take 80 mg orally once daily. Patients with liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin Calcium: For primary hypercholesterolemia
