This medication is used to treat male pattern hair loss, known as androgenetic alopecia, which can occur in both men and women. Available in concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 5%, the usage is specified according to each concentration. It can be an effective treatment option for those troubled by hair loss. Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

After completely drying the hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 g or 0.5 to 1 mL of this medication twice daily (morning, evening), for at least 4 months, directly to the affected area. The total daily dosage should not exceed 2 g or 2 mL. For men, the 3% solution is applied as 0.5 to 1 mL twice daily. For women, the 3% solution is applied at 0.5 mL twice daily. The total daily dosage should not exceed 1.

Precautions

This medication is not recommended for female patients using the 5% formulation, and it should be avoided by children under 18 years of age or women who are pregnant or nursing. Additionally, patients with allergic reactions to this medication, those with cardiac and vascular diseases, cases of sudden localized hair loss, or non-genetic hair loss should not use this medication. Patients with scalp inflammation, infection, irritation, psoriasis, sunburns, or those using other scalp medications should avoid using this medication, as well as individuals who have shaved their scalp. During the use of this medication, it should not be used alongside topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petroleum jelly, or dithranol, and patients taking vasodilators should be cautious of an increased risk of hypotension. Elderly patients, those with edema, and patients with thyroid dysfunction should consult a specialist before using this medication. If abnormal symptoms occur such as skin itching, redness, inflammation, worsening hair loss, gastrointestinal symptoms, cardiovascular symptoms, difficulty breathing, neurological issues, hepatitis, swelling, or allergic reactions while using this medication, usage should be discontinued immediately and a specialist consulted. Excessive use of this medication can affect the cardiovascular system, so patients should consult a specialist beforehand and check the condition of their scalp. If a dose is missed, do not supplement it, but proceed with the next dose as scheduled, and this medication is not effective for hair loss or skin disorders caused by specific reasons. In cases of excessive use, symptoms such as fluid retention, decreased blood pressure, and increased heart rate may occur; therefore, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary, and this medication should only be applied topically on the scalp. Do not use occlusive dressings, and take care to avoid contact with the eyes or sensitive areas; hands should be washed thoroughly after use. Hairstyling products should be applied only after this medication has completely dried, and ensure good air circulation to the scalp to maintain its efficacy. This medication is flammable, so store it away from flames or heat, keep it out of reach of children, and seal it in its original container for storage.
