This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) in adult males, particularly those between the ages of 18 and 41. Male pattern baldness is a hair loss condition that occurs due to genetic factors and hormone influences; this medication helps slow the progression of hair loss and promotes hair growth. With consistent use, hair in the balding areas may gradually improve. Long-term treatment is effective and plays a vital role in managing hair loss symptoms. Therefore, this medication is used to improve symptoms of male pattern baldness.

How to take

Adult dose

Typically, 1 mg of finasteride is administered orally once daily, and it can be taken regardless of meals. Generally, treatment effects can be observed after taking it for more than 3 months, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain treatment effects. The treatment duration and efficacy should be continuously evaluated. Discontinuation of medication will result in loss of treatment effects within 12 months.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in children or women. In particular, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not handle broken pieces of this medication. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels may change during blood tests, so caution should be exercised in interpreting test results.
