It is especially essential for maintaining bone and tooth health in growing children and the elderly. For these reasons, vitamin D is used to promote healthy bone development and prevent rickets across different age groups.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with hypercalcemia or sarcoidosis, a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause, as well as patients with kidney diseases. Additionally, individuals allergic to this medication or its components, infants under 12 months, kidney stone patients, and patients with severe renal failure should also avoid taking it. It is important not to take this medication along with certain drugs such as phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, or antacids. Infants under 1 year, patients currently receiving medical treatment, children who are exposed to sunlight and have normal dietary intake, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, lactating women, premature infants, patients with cardiac and circulatory diseases, patients with kidney disorders, patients with hypoproteinemia, patients on cardiac glycosides, and individuals with a history of kidney stones must consult with a doctor, dentist, or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, low blood pressure, flushing, irregular heartbeat, or skin rashes occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult an expert. Also, overdosing may lead to gastrointestinal disturbances, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, swelling, etc., and prolonged use may cause hypercalcemia and stone formation, so caution is required. Co-administration with certain diuretics (aldosterone antagonists, triamterene) may increase the risk of hyperkalemia, thus caution is necessary. The prescribed dosage and administration must be strictly followed, and supervision by a guardian is required when administering to children. Tea containing tannins such as green tea or black tea should be avoided during or immediately before and after taking this medication. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place in a sealed container. It is also important not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.
