Recurrent herpes simplex can cause great discomfort with blisters around the lips. This medication helps prevent the progression of symptoms in the early stage and reduce the size of the blisters and pain. Using it as soon as symptoms appear can lead to faster recovery. This effectively reduces the symptoms of recurrent herpes simplex and minimizes the inconvenience in the patient's daily life. Therefore, it is used for initial treatment.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply an adequate amount enough to cover the edges of the affected area 5 times a day for 5 days. Treatment should start as soon as early symptoms and signs are visible.

Precautions

It is important not to use this medication if there is a skin infection. Especially, patients with bacterial, fungal, viral, or animal skin infections may experience worsening symptoms and should avoid use. People who are allergic or have shown hypersensitivity to the ingredients in this medication should not use it. Additionally, patients with severely weakened immune systems, such as bone marrow transplant recipients or AIDS patients, should not use this medication. Caution should be taken if there are wounds or perforations in the ear, especially for patients with otitis externa, as healing of the wound may be delayed with this medication. It is advisable not to use this medication in cases of ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite, as skin regeneration may be hindered. It is recommended to avoid use in cases of perioral dermatitis, common acne, and rosacea. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, and children under 18 should avoid using this medication to be safe. Patients with heart disease, particularly those with a history of myocardial infarction, should be cautious. This medication should not be used on the eyes, nose, mouth, or genital areas. Using it on these areas may cause irritation or adverse effects. During the use of this medication, it is advisable not to take specific drugs, particularly systemically administered acyclovir. Drug interactions may change the drug concentration. It is recommended to refrain from breastfeeding while using this medication. It is uncertain whether the drug is excreted during breastfeeding, hence caution is advised. Patients who are pregnant, elderly, or allergic to propylene glycol must consult with their doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. Localized side effects, such as skin dryness, peeling, burning sensation, tingling, erythema, pigmentation, inflammatory symptoms, contact dermatitis, folliculitis, pustular dermatitis, skin irritation, pain, fever, rash, redness, flushing, itching, skin dryness, pustular dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, heat rash, wound deterioration, pressure sores, steroid-induced acne, skin atrophy, telangiectasia, purpura, steroid rosacea, perioral dermatitis, hirsutism, pigment loss, and vesicular dermatitis may occur during the use of this medication. With long-term or extensive use, side effects such as skin atrophy, vascular dilation, acne, dermatitis may occur, and there is a risk of hormone function suppression due to systemic steroid effects. Caution is advised as ocular diseases like increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma may arise when used around the eyes. The duration of use of this medication should be limited to within 5 days, and if symptoms do not improve or worsen, use should be stopped and consulted with a physician. This medication is only to be used for treating herpes simplex around the lips, as it may be difficult to distinguish from infectious lesions, caution is advised. This medication may cause skin irritation and hypersensitivity reactions, so the prescribed dosage and frequency should be strictly followed, and it should not be used if there are no symptoms. This medication should not be mixed or diluted with other medications and if used with extensive or occlusive dressing, regular checks may be necessary. If vision disturbances or hazy vision occur during use, immediate consultation with an ophthalmologist is required. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored tightly closed in its original container.
