Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to help improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The combination of linagliptin and metformin helps effectively improve blood glucose levels. This facilitates smoother blood sugar regulation for patients and contributes to the prevention of complications. It greatly assists patients in consistently taking their medication and managing their lifestyle.
This medication is taken twice a day with meals. 1. If not currently being treated with metformin: Take this medication 2.5/500 mg twice daily, 1 tablet each time, and can increase to 1 tablet of this medication 2.5/1000 mg twice daily. 2. If sufficient blood sugar control cannot be achieved with metformin monotherapy: Take 2.5 mg of linagliptin twice daily and the existing dose of metformin.

Caution is necessary when used with other diabetes medications or insulin that have a risk of hypoglycemia; if symptoms of hypoglycemia occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. During treatment, attention should be given to the possible occurrence of rare skin disorders such as pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid, and if symptoms appear, the physician should be notified immediately. Furthermore, this medication may decrease vitamin B12 levels; thus, it is important to regularly check for vitamin B12 deficiency if taken over a long period. Use of this medication is not recommended for women planning to become pregnant, those who are pregnant, or children under 10 years of age. Elderly patients should start with the minimum dose considering reduced kidney function and regular monitoring of kidney function is needed.
