(Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia) Effectively controls blood pressure and improves cholesterol, reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases
This medication is used for patients who need to take a combination of Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine and Rosuvastatin. The Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine combination helps control essential hypertension that is difficult to manage with monotherapy. Rosuvastatin primarily acts as an adjunct to dietary therapy in patients with hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia, lowering cholesterol levels in those with hypercholesterolemia and delaying the progression of atherosclerosis. Furthermore, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in high-risk cardiovascular patients. Therefore, this medication is effective for the management of hypertension and hyperlipidemia, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
This medication should be taken once daily, regardless of meals, with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosing for Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine is as follows: - 20/5 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg or Amlodipine 5 mg as monotherapy. - 40/5 mg:
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy, therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used by individuals who are allergic to the active ingredients or similar components, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or fertile women not using adequate contraception. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, specific blood disorders, or severe heart disease should consult a physician before using this medication, as it may pose risks. Caution is needed for patients with hypotension due to insufficient body fluid or salt, as blood pressure may drop too low upon initial dosing. The Amlodipine in this medication causes blood vessel dilation to lower blood pressure, and should be used cautiously in patients with heart valve disease. Patients with heart disease or heart failure may experience exacerbation of symptoms, so they should follow a physician's instructions. Patients with decreased kidney function may see further deterioration of kidney function after taking this medication, necessitating regular blood tests and monitoring of their condition. Patients with reduced liver function may require dosage adjustments due to slower metabolism of this medication. There is a risk of increased potassium levels in the blood while taking this medication, so regular testing is needed, especially for individuals with heart or kidney disease. The Rosuvastatin component can cause muscle pain or myopathy, and in rare cases, serious muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) may occur, necessitating prompt reporting of any muscle-related symptoms to a doctor. This medication contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with lactose intolerance. Caution is warranted when taking potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements in conjunction with this medication, as blood potassium levels can become dangerously high. The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may worsen kidney function, so caution should be exercised when using pain relievers while on this medication. Taking this medication with grapefruit juice may increase the blood concentration of Amlodipine, increasing the risk of side effects, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. Regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests during the course of this medication are recommended for safety. If severe rashes, itching, swelling, or other symptoms occur after taking this medication, it should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted.
