This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

Take one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg monotherapy, administer 5/80 mg. For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 160 mg monotherapy, administer 5/160 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimester of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals who are allergic to this medication or similar classes of drugs, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and those with severe kidney or liver disease should not take this medication. Caution is advised when administering this medication to patients who are depleted of sodium or fluids, as hypotension may occur; blood pressure should be carefully monitored before and after administration. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking medications that can increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels checked frequently. Patients with vascular problems in the kidneys or those who have undergone kidney transplants may experience a risk of worsening kidney function while taking this medication. If symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, occur during treatment with this medication, it should be discontinued immediately, and a physician should be consulted. Patients with heart failure or those recovering from myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function while on this medication, and it should be used cautiously in patients with severe heart failure. This medication can interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, and potassium-sparing agents, so any other medications being taken should be reported to a physician or pharmacist. Caution is needed as dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is not recommended for individuals under age 18, as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established.
