Relief of painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders (cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of the shoulder)
This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain.
As this medication is a sustained-release tablet, it should be taken whole without crushing, dividing, or chewing. Administer orally 1 tablet (75mg of eperisone hydrochloride) twice a day after meals. The dosage may be adjusted appropriately depending on age and symptoms.
This drug should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or in patients with severe myasthenia gravis. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to patients with a history of hypersensitivity or with liver function problems, as liver function may deteriorate. During treatment with this drug, allergic symptoms such as redness, itching, hives, swelling, and difficulty breathing may occur, and if these symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be obtained. Severe skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so symptoms such as fever, skin rash, blisters, itching, conjunctival injection, and stomatitis should be carefully monitored, and if these symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued immediately. Various adverse reactions may rarely occur in multiple organs including the liver, kidneys, blood, nervous system, digestive system, and urinary system, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, consultation with a physician is recommended. Fatigue, dizziness, and drowsiness may appear while using this medication, and activities that require attention, such as driving or operating machinery, should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should preferably avoid administration or discontinue breastfeeding if they take this medication. Safety in children has not been adequately confirmed, so caution is needed in their use. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological functions, so care should be taken to adjust the dosage of this medication.
