Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension with concomitant use of amlodipine and valsartan
This medicine is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or valsartan.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with renal impairment classified as mild to moderate, no dosage adjustment is necessary; however, for patients with severe renal impairment and those on dialysis, this medication should not be administered. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dose of valsartan should not exceed 80 mg. Elderly patients aged 65 years and older should be monitored closely for dosage adjustment.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medication or those with specific heart, kidney, or liver diseases, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, should not take this medication. Patients who are deficient in fluid or sodium should replenish their status before taking this medication and should monitor their blood pressure and condition closely during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or those with kidney function issues should use caution when taking this medication along with potassium-raising drugs and should have their potassium levels checked frequently. Patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction should monitor for changes in kidney function when taking this medication, and special caution is required for patients with acute myocardial infarction. This medication may cause dizziness or fatigue, so care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. Interactions may occur when used with other antihypertensives or specific medications, so patients should consult healthcare professionals regarding concurrent medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication, and it is advisable not to use it if planning a pregnancy. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years have not been established, so its use is not recommended. In cases of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, and in severe cases, shock may occur; if overdose is suspected, contact a medical institution immediately.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, hypersensitivity, serum sickness, vasculitis, syncope, worsening heart failure, pulmonary edema, myocardial infarction, jaundice, serious skin adverse reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), severe allergic reactions, serious neurological symptoms (headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis), thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, acute kidney injury
