This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of either Candesartan Cilexetil or Amlodipine. In other words, this medication can effectively manage blood pressure when it is difficult to control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water without regard to meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning) if possible. In cases where blood pressure is not controlled, adjust the dosage using appropriate dosages of 8/5 mg, 16/5 mg, or 16/10 mg. For patients with renal impairment, an initial dosage of 4 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil once daily is recommended; administering this medication as initial treatment is not advisable.

Child dose

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, thus it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. In patients with impaired kidney function or heart failure, blood pressure, kidney function, and blood potassium levels should be monitored regularly. Close observation is also necessary during dose increments. Interactions may occur when this medication is taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, and certain analgesics; therefore, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should preferably not take this medication, and if it is deemed necessary, a thorough consultation with a specialist should be conducted beforehand. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years of age have not been established, and its use is not recommended. Elderly patients should take additional care when using this medication due to the risk of excessive blood pressure lowering leading to stroke.
