Improvement of symptoms of acute coronary syndrome and atherosclerosis; prevention of thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation
This medication is used to improve atherosclerotic symptoms in adult patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and peripheral artery disease. Additionally, in patients with acute coronary syndrome who have unstable angina or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, it effectively reduces the risk of death, myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients receiving drug therapy, coronary intervention, or coronary artery bypass surgery. Furthermore, in patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors and where vitamin K antagonists are unsuitable with a low risk of bleeding, it helps to decrease the risk of stroke and thromboembolism. Thus, this medication is used to improve health by reducing the risk of various cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
○ Adults 1. In patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease, administer clopidogrel 75 mg orally once daily. 2. In patients with acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction), begin treatment on the first day with a loading dose of 300 mg of this medicine once daily, followed by a maintenance dose of 75 mg orally once daily. In this case, aspirin 75 ~ 325 mg should be administered concomitantly with this medicine once daily. 3. In patients with atrial fibrillation, administer 75 mg of this medicine orally once daily. In this case, aspirin 75 ~ 100 mg should be administered concomitantly with this medicine once daily. ○ Patients with renal impairment: Treatment experience in patients with renal impairment is limited. ○ Patients with hepatic impairment: Treatment experience in patients with moderate liver disease with a bleeding diathesis is limited. This medicine may be administered with or without food.
This medication is an antiplatelet agent that prevents platelets from aggregating and forming blood clots. Patients with genetically reduced function of a specific enzyme (CYP2C19) may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication, and alternative treatment options may need to be considered. Additionally, concurrent use of this medication with drugs that activate certain enzymes may increase the concentration of the active ingredient of this medication, raising the risk of bleeding, and such combinations should be avoided. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity or active bleeding, severe liver damage, nursing mothers, and patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance. Patients at high risk of bleeding, liver disease patients, renal impairment patients, those with acute stroke, hypertension patients, elderly patients, and those with low body weight should be treated with caution, and particularly, patients planned for surgery should stop taking this medication 5 to 7 days before surgery. If bleeding symptoms or abnormalities related to blood occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately. Additionally, care must be taken when this medication is taken with other drugs that have a risk of bleeding, as this increases the risk of bleeding. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and if nursing, careful consideration of whether to continue the medication is essential. Safety in children has not been established, and elderly individuals may be at higher risk of bleeding due to decreased bodily function, requiring careful dosage adjustment and monitoring. In cases of overdose, bleeding time may prolong, leading to complications, so the specified dosage must be adhered to while taking this medication. Store in a safe place out of reach of children and preferably do not transfer to another container.
