Improvement of blood pressure control in cases of inadequate monotherapy for hypertension
This medication is used for patients with hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy.
Start with 1 tablet of Losartan Potassium 50 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks, the dosage may be increased up to a maximum of 1 tablet of Losartan Potassium 100 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily. In patients with renal impairment and a creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or more, the usual dosage should be administered. Administration is not recommended for patients with liver impairment.
There is no experience using this medication in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age), therefore it should not be administered.
This medication can cause severe harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be administered to patients with certain diseases or conditions. For example, patients with severely impaired renal function or a history of specific allergies should not take this medication. Patients with very low blood pressure or those with renal or liver dysfunction should use this drug cautiously and consult healthcare professionals for proper management. This medication can cause electrolyte imbalances, so regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor electrolyte status, and any unusual symptoms should be reported immediately. Hydrochlorothiazide can make the skin sensitive to sunlight and increase the risk of skin cancer, so sun protection and skin care should be prioritized while taking it. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during the use of this drug, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. There may be interactions with other medications, so all medications being taken should be disclosed to healthcare professionals, especially potassium supplements or certain diuretics to avoid concomitant use. Women who are breastfeeding should discontinue either breastfeeding or this medication, as it may be transmitted through breast milk and affect the baby. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established, so this medication should not be used in pediatric populations. Elderly patients may experience side effects more frequently, so careful monitoring is required during use. In case of overdose, symptoms may include hypotension and arrhythmias, so immediate medical attention is required for appropriate treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
