Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used with metformin when control of blood sugar is difficult alone, and also in cases where control is insufficient with metformin or sulfonylureas. It can be combined with insulin therapy for more effective blood sugar management. Additionally, it may be added when already using sulfonylureas with metformin or when there is insufficient effect with the combination of empagliflozin and metformin. It can be used to improve blood sugar control in various scenarios.
The recommended dose of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to this medication's active ingredient or other components. Do not administer to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution should be exercised when using this medication with insulin or sulfonylurea medications that can cause hypoglycemia, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. It should be used with caution in patients with heart failure, and especially in cases of severe heart failure, this medication is not recommended. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur; if severe abdominal pain or other pancreatitis suspicion symptoms appear, discontinue this medication immediately and consult a physician. Skin conditions such as blistering dermatitis may appear, so if blisters or irritation occur on the skin, inform a doctor immediately. Joint pain may worsen or disabilities may occur during the use of this medication, so consult a physician if these symptoms appear. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended, and it should be decided after consulting with a professional if necessary. It's not recommended for children under 10 years of age or for children and adolescents between 10 and 17 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients can use this medication without special dose adjustment, but caution may be needed depending on the condition. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function may also use this medication without dose adjustment, but their condition should be monitored closely. In case of overdose, unabsorbed drug should be removed from the gastrointestinal tract, and symptoms should be observed and appropriate treatment provided if necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to another container.

This medication must be stored in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is advisable to keep the storage temperature between 1 degree Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
