How to take

Adult dose

As cilostazol, the usual adult dose is 200 mg taken orally once daily. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach without food.

Precautions

This medication may increase heart rate, which could pose a risk of angina, and symptoms such as chest pain should be monitored closely. Patients with bleeding risks or a history of bleeding disorders, those with heart failure, individuals allergic to this medication or its components, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this drug. Patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs that increase the risk of bleeding, menstruating women, individuals with coronary artery disease, those with severe renal or hepatic impairment, diabetic patients, individuals with persistent hypertension, and elderly patients with certain heart structural abnormalities should use this drug cautiously. Side effects may include headaches, dizziness, dyspepsia, vomiting, loss of appetite, myalgia, flushing, etc., and severe bleeding, blood abnormalities, interstitial pneumonia, and heart problems may occur; hence, if any unusual symptoms arise, consult a doctor immediately. This medication can cause dizziness, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Taking it with food may increase drug concentration and the risk of side effects; therefore, it is recommended to take it on an empty stomach and keep a gap of over 3 hours between meals and medication. Since the drug is metabolized in the liver, caution should be exercised when taking it with certain antibiotics, gastrointestinal medications, or antifungals, as this may increase drug concentration, and grapefruit juice should also be avoided. Women who are pregnant or capable of becoming pregnant should not take this medication, and if breastfeeding, they should discontinue breastfeeding. Safety for infants and neonates has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it; elderly individuals may have reduced bodily functions, necessitating dosage adjustments.
