Relief of painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders (shoulder myofascial pain syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder)
This medication is used for painful muscle spasms accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder myofascial pain syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain.
As this medication is a sustained-release tablet, it should be taken whole without crushing, splitting, or chewing. Adults should take 1 tablet (75 mg of eperison hydrochloride) twice daily after meals. The dosage may be adjusted properly according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or in patients with severe myasthenia gravis. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or those with liver dysfunction, as liver function may deteriorate. While taking this medication, allergic reactions or serious skin adverse effects may rarely occur, so if symptoms such as redness, itching, hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, fever, erythema, blisters, conjunctival injection, or stomatitis appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and medical consultation should be sought. Occasionally, side effects such as elevated liver function values, renal dysfunction, anemia, rash, itching, headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, urinary retention, weakness, and dizziness may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional. This medication may cause drowsiness or decreased concentration, therefore caution should be exercised when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be avoided or stopped if the medication is used. The safety in pediatric patients has not been sufficiently established, so caution should be exercised when administering to children. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so caution should be exercised and dosing may need to be adjusted.
