This medication is used for hypertension that is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The usual dose for adults is 1 tablet of Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. Doses exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day are not recommended. If blood pressure is not controlled, it can be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily. It can be taken without regard to meals.

Child dose

There is no experience in the use of this medication in children and adolescents; therefore, Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide compound should not be given to children and adolescents.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Do not use this medication if you have allergic reactions to it or have certain kidney dysfunctions, liver dysfunctions, or electrolyte imbalances. Patients with hypotension, problems with renal blood vessels, the elderly, or those with a history of diabetes or gout should use this medication with caution. During use, be cautious of symptoms like dizziness or drowsiness, especially when starting the medication or changing doses, as blood pressure can drop too low. This medication can increase potassium levels, so do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without a doctor's instructions. Due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, increased blood sugar, hyperuricemia, skin rashes, acute angle-closure glaucoma may occur, necessitating regular blood tests and symptom monitoring. While taking this medication, reduce exposure to sunlight or UV rays, and consult a doctor immediately if any skin abnormalities occur. This medication may interact with other blood pressure medications, diuretics, hypoglycemic agents, anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., so inform your physician of any other medications you are taking. This medication should be used cautiously during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and if breastfeeding, you may need to stop nursing or discuss with your doctor since this medication can be transmitted through breast milk. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so this medication should not be administered to children. In case of overdose, hypotension and irregular heartbeats may occur, so the prescribed dosage should be strictly followed, and if unusual symptoms appear, seek medical help immediately. Keep this medication out of reach of children, and store it in its original container; transferring to another container may lead to misuse or quality degradation.

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema (including swelling of lips and eyelids and facial rash, swelling of the larynx/glottis, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue)
  • Chest tightness, difficulty breathing, respiratory distress, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), pneumonia, pulmonary edema
  • Cold sweat, pallor
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, shedding of skin, pain in oral/ocular mucosa
  • Jaundice (cholestatic jaundice), skin and mucous membrane syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
