This medication is effective for gastrointestinal ulcer diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It also helps in cases of bleeding due to acute stress ulcers and hemorrhagic gastritis. It is used in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease to alleviate symptoms and adjusts conditions of excessive gastric acid secretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It aids in the improvement of gastric mucosal lesions such as erosion, hemorrhage, redness, and swelling that occur during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. Overall, it effectively treats and improves mucosal damage in gastrointestinal diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to certain ingredients or with problems digesting lactose. Additionally, patients with hypersensitivity to the drug, those with kidney or liver dysfunction, individuals with heart disease, the elderly, and patients allergic to certain dyes should use this medication cautiously. Although rare, serious side effects may occur during treatment, so if symptoms such as difficulty breathing, skin rash, blood disorders, liver dysfunction, muscle pain, cardiac rhythm abnormalities, or consciousness disturbances appear, immediate discontinuation and consultation with a doctor are necessary. During treatment, regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be conducted, and if symptoms do not improve, other treatment methods should be considered. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the mucosa, so it must be swallowed with water. Caution should be taken as the effectiveness of this medication may decrease when used with specific phosphate binders in patients undergoing dialysis. Moreover, concurrent use with certain antifungals or anticancer drugs may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to increased drug concentration from kidney function decline. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication under a doctor's supervision if necessary, and breastfeeding women should discontinue nursing if using this drug. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established, so its use is not recommended. Lastly, when taking this medication, symptoms of gastric cancer may be masked, so it is safe to confirm malignancy before use.
