Improvement of gastric (ulcer, bleeding) and gastric mucosal lesions
This medication is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and gastrointestinal bleeding related to peptic ulcers, acute stress ulcers, and hemorrhagic gastritis. It is also effective for diseases caused by excessive gastric acid secretion, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps improve lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa caused by acute exacerbation of acute or chronic gastritis. This way, it alleviates symptoms across various gastrointestinal disorders and protects the gastric mucosa to aid in recovery to a healthy state. Therefore, this medication plays an essential role in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, improving the patient's symptoms.
1. Gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding (due to peptic ulcers, acute stress ulcers, hemorrhagic gastritis), gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Administer 20mg of famotidine orally twice a day (after breakfast, after dinner, or at bedtime) or 40mg once daily (at bedtime). For upper gastrointestinal bleeding, treatment is typically started with intravenous administration, and once oral administration becomes possible, switch to oral administration.
