Improvement of symptoms of the stomach (ulcers, gastritis) and metabloism enhancement of uric acid excretion to prevent gout attacks
This medication is effective in alleviating symptoms through antacid action in diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and hyperacidity. It also helps in relieving symptoms of acidosis. This drug is also used to promote uric acid excretion to prevent gout attacks.
Sodium Bicarbonate: Take 0.5-1g orally 3-5 times a day.
This medication has a high sodium content, so it should not be administered to patients who need to restrict sodium intake, such as those with hypernatremia, edema, pregnancy-induced hypertension, bladder stones, or hypertension. Additionally, this drug contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Care should be taken when administering to patients with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, impaired kidney function, heart or lung dysfunction, and those with electrolyte imbalances. When using this drug, metabolic abnormalities, particularly alkalosis or edema due to sodium accumulation, may occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored; if abnormalities are detected, the dosage should be reduced or temporarily halted. Gastrointestinal side effects may include abdominal distension or belching, and rarely too much gastric acid secretion may occur, so caution should be exercised. In patients with congestive heart failure, edema, sodium retention, and decreased urine output, careful administration is also required. When treating alkalosis, it should be taken on an empty stomach before meals, and it is advisable to use it along with other antacids to reduce carbon dioxide stimulation. Long-term use may lead to alkalosis, so careful observation is needed for symptoms such as hematuria, vomiting, bleeding, and dehydration. This drug raises the pH of gastrointestinal and body fluids, which can affect the absorption and excretion of other medications, so caution with drug interactions should be exercised. Additionally, taking it in large amounts with milk or calcium supplements may result in Milk-Alkali Syndrome, so patients should monitor symptoms closely and discontinue use if problems arise.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug may affect the absorption and excretion of concomitant medications due to increased pH in the gastrointestinal fluid, so it should be administered with caution.
Taking this medication in large amounts with milk or calcium supplements may cause Milk-Alkali Syndrome (hypercalcemia, hypernitrogenemia, alkalosis, etc.), so it is advised to consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Keep this medication tightly closed to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is recommended to maintain room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees for storage.
