This medication is used to treat knee osteoarthritis and shoulder periarthritis. Knee osteoarthritis is a condition characterized by damage to the cartilage in the knee joint, leading to pain and limited movement, while shoulder periarthritis refers to a condition that arises from inflammation in the tissues surrounding the shoulder joint, causing pain. This drug helps reduce the inflammation and pain associated with these joint diseases, making the patient's daily life more comfortable. Therefore, it is effectively used to improve knee and shoulder joint pain.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Typically, for adult patients, administer 1 syringe once a week for 3 consecutive weeks into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa, or long head of biceps tendon sheath). Adjust the frequency of administration appropriately according to symptoms. Strict aseptic techniques should be maintained during administration.

Precautions

This drug is made from sodium hyaluronate and is injected into the joint. It should not be used in patients who have experienced an allergic reaction to this medication. Use with caution in patients with allergies to other medications, liver function issues, or skin diseases/infections at the administration site. When administering this drug, severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur, so careful monitoring is necessary; if symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be provided. Additionally, allergic symptoms such as swelling in the face or rashes and itching may rarely occur, requiring discontinuation of administration if they arise. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, and warmth may occur at the injection site, and nausea, vomiting, and fever can also be side effects. For patients with severe inflammatory knee arthritis, it is advisable to reduce the inflammation before using this drug. After administration, stabilizing the injection site is important, and care should be taken to prevent leakage of the medication outside the joint. Maintain aseptic conditions during the injection, and it is appropriate to use a needle size of 22-23 gauge. This drug is not suitable for intravenous injection or use in the eyes. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously, as its safety has not been established; it should be used only when the benefits outweigh the risks. Additionally, this drug may be passed through breast milk, so nursing should be avoided during treatment. The safety of this medication in children has not been confirmed; it should be used cautiously only when necessary. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily function and require special attention during administration.
