Precautions

This medication may put a strain on the liver, so those who consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily must consult a doctor or pharmacist. This is because the risk of liver damage may increase. If skin rashes or hypersensitivity reactions occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult with healthcare professionals. Serious skin reactions can occur rarely. One of the ingredients in this medication, tramadol, may increase the risk of seizures if the recommended dose is exceeded. The risk of seizures is particularly higher when taken with certain antidepressants or narcotic analgesics, so caution is advised. For patients with severe respiratory diseases, this medication can suppress breathing and may be life-threatening; hence, it must be administered under medical supervision. Taking this drug with alcohol or central nervous system depressants can lead to severe sedation, respiratory suppression, or coma, so co-administration should be avoided or used in minimal doses for a short duration. Patients with brain damage or elevated intracranial pressure may experience worsening symptoms due to respiratory suppression from this medication, so it should be used carefully. This medication can cause physical and psychological dependence; therefore, prolonged use should be observed for signs of dependence. Patients with impaired liver function must consult a doctor before taking this medication and should not exceed the daily dosage to reduce the risk of liver damage. Patients with certain genes may metabolize this medication rapidly, leading to unexpectedly high blood concentrations and increased risk of respiratory suppression, so caution is advised. This medication should not be used in children under 12 years old or in adolescents under 18 years old who have undergone tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy. The risk of respiratory suppression is particularly high in this age group. Patients with sleep apnea or hypoxemia should continuously monitor for worsening symptoms while using this medication and should adjust the dosage or discontinue use if necessary. This medication can cause hyponatremia, so elderly patients or those at risk for hyponatremia should carefully observe symptoms during use. Do not exceed the recommended dose while taking this medication and do not take it with other tramadol or acetaminophen formulations. Sudden discontinuation of medication can cause withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and sweating; therefore, it is advisable to gradually reduce the dosage in consultation with healthcare professionals. Caution should be exercised as drowsiness or dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, severe symptoms such as respiratory suppression, seizures, and liver damage may occur, and immediate emergency action should be taken. During pregnancy, the effects on the fetus are not clearly known; therefore, it should be used cautiously, and breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication. Elderly patients may have a higher likelihood of impaired liver, kidney, and cardiac function, thus should be administered with increased caution.
