Endocrine anomalies such as gynecomastia or increased prolactin levels may occur, so patients should report any such symptoms immediately. There may be adverse blood-related reactions like thrombocytopenia or leukopenia, necessitating blood tests to monitor the condition. It can impact kidney function, so it is important to check blood levels of BUN and creatinine. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions like skin rash and itching may occur, requiring cessation of the medication upon symptom onset. This medication enhances acetylcholine activity, so it should be used with this consideration in mind, and long-term use should be avoided if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve. When taken with anticholinergics, the effect of this medication may be reduced, so caution regarding dosing intervals is advised.
