View approved original text

This drug is used as a treatment to improve blood sugar control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy. It can be used in patients who have no prior experience with diabetes drug therapy or in those who cannot achieve blood sugar control with metformin alone. It also helps to enhance blood sugar control when used in combination with other diabetes treatments such as metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin, or empagliflozin. This drug is a good choice for patients who struggle to achieve adequate blood sugar control through multiple treatment methods and improves blood sugar regulation.

If currently not being treated with metformin: Take this drug 2.5/500 mg, 1 tablet twice a day, and can be increased up to 2.5/1000 mg, 1 tablet twice a day. 2. Precautions

This drug is used for the treatment of diabetes and helps to control blood sugar levels. However, there are certain cases in which it should not be used. For example, it should not be taken if there is an allergy to the components of this drug, or in cases of type 1 diabetes, lactic acidosis, or severe kidney or liver disease. Additionally, it is advisable not to use this drug in situations where the physical condition may rapidly deteriorate, such as severe infections, dehydration, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. It is also recommended that pregnant or nursing women do not take this drug. This drug may cause hypoglycemia, so blood sugar levels should be closely monitored, especially when used with other hypoglycemic agents. A rare side effect called lactic acidosis may occur, which is serious; if symptoms such as abdominal pain, muscle pain, malaise, or difficulty breathing occur, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Patients with reduced kidney function should have kidney function tests before taking this drug and should regularly check kidney function. This drug should also be used cautiously in patients with liver dysfunction and any symptoms of liver dysfunction should be reported to medical personnel. Additionally, rare side effects like acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid (blisters on the skin) have been reported, and if such symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. This drug may interact with other medications, so patients must inform healthcare providers about any other medications they are taking. Particularly, caution is needed when taken with medications that may affect kidney function or blood sugar levels. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid this drug and consult other methods for blood sugar control. Similarly, nursing mothers should consult with healthcare professionals before taking this drug. It is advisable not to use this drug in children under 10 years of age since safety and efficacy have not been established. In elderly patients, since reduced kidney function is common, it's important to regularly monitor kidney function and to start at the lowest effective dose when using this drug. In case of overdose, serious side effects like lactic acidosis may occur, so the prescribed dose should be strictly followed, and if side effects are suspected, the hospital should be visited immediately. This drug should be stored out of reach of children, kept away from moisture, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.
