This medicine is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical tenosynovitis, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain.

How to take

Adult dose

As this medication is a sustained-release tablet, it should be taken whole, not crushed, split, or chewed. Administer orally after meals, 1 tablet (75mg of eperisone hydrochloride) 2 times a day. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to this drug or those suffering from severe myasthenia gravis. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or liver function issues should use this medication with caution, as liver function may worsen. If allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing occur during use of this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Severe skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur; if symptoms such as fever, blisters, itching, conjunctival injection, or stomatitis appear, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Various side effects such as liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, anemia, skin rashes, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, urinary retention, weakness, dizziness may occur rarely, so symptoms should be carefully observed. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur during use of this medication, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should avoid taking it if possible; if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established; therefore, it should be used cautiously in pediatric patients. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so dosage adjustment and special caution are necessary when using this medication.
