This medication is effective in alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting caused by gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and gastric and duodenal inflammation and ulcers. It also reduces discomfort in the intestines due to irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colon. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious intestinal discomfort disorders, namely constipation and diarrhea. Overall, it helps improve various gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose; therefore, people with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal-related side effects may occasionally occur, such as constipation, diarrhea, bowel sounds, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and a numb feeling in the mouth. Additionally, palpitations may occur rarely, so caution is needed. CNS side effects such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache may also appear rarely. Blood tests may show elevated liver function markers, so individuals with liver health issues should be particularly cautious. If any hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes occur, stop the medication immediately and consult a physician. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication if the potential benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been sufficiently confirmed. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication if possible; if it must be taken, cessation of breastfeeding is recommended.
