This medication helps soothe digestive disorders such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis, as well as symptoms caused by excessive gastric acid, such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and belching. It neutralizes gastric acid through its antacid action, protects the gastric mucosa, and alleviates symptoms to reduce discomfort. Due to these effects, it is effectively used to relieve various gastric-related issues.

How to take

Adult dose

Take almagate in a dose of 1 g three times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, chewing it before swallowing. An additional dose may be taken at bedtime if necessary.

Child dose

For children aged 12 and older, take almagate in a dose of 1 g three times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, chewing it before swallowing. An additional dose may be taken at bedtime if necessary.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients. Patients with Alzheimer's disease, hemorrhoids, symptoms of edema with fluid retention, pregnancy-induced hypertension, diarrhea, and unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding should also avoid taking this medication. Do not take this medication concurrently with tetracycline antibiotics, as they may interfere with each other's absorption. Individuals taking other medications should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before use, as this drug may affect the absorption or excretion of other medicines. It is particularly advisable to space out the intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, digoxin, chlorpromazine, lansoprazole, prednisolone, penicillin, quinolones, and iron preparations by 2 to 3 hours from this medication. Caution is required when taking salicylate-containing medications, as they may increase drug excretion from the kidneys. Patients with impaired kidney function should be cautious, as the magnesium or aluminum in this medication may accumulate in the body. Furthermore, individuals with weak health or those on low-phosphorus diets, as well as those with malabsorption disorders, should be cautious about long-term use of this medication, as its aluminum component may interfere with phosphorus absorption and adversely affect bone health. Elderly patients, those with symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding, pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should consult with a professional before using this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs, or if symptoms do not improve after two weeks, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed dosage and administration, and when given to children, should be administered under adult supervision. Store this medication out of reach of children, keeping it tightly closed in its original container. It is best to store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
