Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis) and treatment of peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, with preventive effects on gastric and duodenal ulcers.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive esophagitis, and for maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of esophagitis. It also helps in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers related to antibiotic therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. It is effective in treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and in the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers. It is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after the prevention of rebleeding due to gastric or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it improves symptom relief and prevention of recurrence for various gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, continue for 4 more weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 1

This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to specific components or who have had hypersensitivity reactions. Additionally, it is unsafe for patients taking certain antibiotics or antivirals, women with a history of myocardial infarction, or those who are breastfeeding. Patients allergic to the dye Yellow No. 4 should use this medication cautiously. While using this medication, caution is needed as blood-related adverse reactions such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hypomagnesemia may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting may also occur, so if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is recommended. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which can increase bacterial growth in the stomach, potentially raising the risk of infection. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, so attention to bone health is necessary. Regular blood tests and magnesium level checks are recommended for those taking this medication long-term. Due to potential interactions with other medications, especially anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants, it is important to inform healthcare professionals and monitor the condition closely. Caution is needed when using this medication during pregnancy, and it is safest not to take this medication while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment should be provided based on symptoms.
