This medication helps to improve symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction including abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting due to gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, gastritis, and ulcers. It also alleviates abdominal pain and discomfort caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colitis. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious intestinal disorders such as constipation and diarrhea. Therefore, it effectively improves various gastrointestinal-related problems.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 100-200 mg of Trimebutine Maleate orally three times a day before meals. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medicine contains lactose, so it should not be used by patients with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion. During the intake of this medication, it is rare to experience constipation, diarrhea, abdominal rumbling, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth, or a numb sensation in the mouth. Additionally, neurological symptoms such as palpitations, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches may occur. Caution is required as liver function test values may temporarily increase. An allergic reaction may manifest as skin rashes, so if this occurs, discontinue use immediately. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently confirmed; thus, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use it cautiously under a physician's advice. Lactating women should also avoid this medication as its safety has not been established, and if necessary to take, it is recommended to cease breastfeeding. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a tightly closed container, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place. Moreover, to maintain the quality of the medication and prevent misuse, it is important not to transfer it to another container.
