Treatment of essential hypertension and blood pressure control
This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is administered additionally after single-agent treatment with telmisartan in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled. It effectively lowers blood pressure, helping to control hypertension and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Regular intake can significantly aid in blood pressure management.
For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy using telmisartan, this medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to adjust the doses of each component individually before switching to a fixed-dose combination. Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combinations of 40/12.5 mg, 80/12.5 mg, and 80/25 mg are provided when blood pressure control is inadequate.
The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in individuals under 18 years of age.
This medication can pose serious risks to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Do not take this medication if you have allergies to any of its components or have specific liver or kidney diseases. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels or impaired liver function should use this medication cautiously. The hydrochlorothiazide component may cause increased sensitivity to sunlight, so avoid sun exposure and consult a doctor if skin changes occur. While taking this medication, side effects like dizziness, low blood pressure, and electrolyte imbalances may occur; consult a healthcare provider if symptoms are severe. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensive medications or certain drugs, so it's essential to inform your physician about any medications you are currently taking. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not take this medication and should consider alternative safe treatments if necessary. Overdose may cause low blood pressure, electrolyte abnormalities, etc., requiring immediate medical consultation for appropriate treatment. Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric use, therefore it is not recommended. Store this medication out of reach of children, and use it as directed after removing it from the packaging.
