How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac every 4-6 hours. Initially, during the first 24-48 hours, administer 1-2 drops every 2 hours, and once symptoms improve, gradually reduce the dosage without stopping treatment early.

Precautions

This medication should not be used for patients with certain eye conditions. For example, it must not be used in cases of viral diseases of the cornea or conjunctiva or fungal infections of the eye. It should also be avoided in individuals who are allergic to this medication and in children and breastfeeding women. Local side effects such as eyelid itching, swelling, and conjunctival hyperemia may occur. Serious eye problems, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and vision impairment, may also arise, requiring caution. When used in conjunction with other specific antibiotics, careful monitoring of blood concentration is necessary, and if adverse reactions occur, use should be discontinued. In cases of acute eye infections, the steroid component may exacerbate the infection, hence caution should be exercised. Prolonged use may lead to fungal infections in the cornea and decreased immunity, resulting in secondary bacterial infections. Overuse may result in corneal inflammation, erythema, eyelid itching, increased tearing, and rarely, blurred vision. Long-term use may lead to resistance such as to fungi and may have cross-reactivity with other aminoglycoside antibiotics. Appropriate treatment is required in case of reinfection. Particularly, during the use of this medication, if the patient contracts chickenpox or measles, serious problems may arise, thus prior history and vaccination status should be confirmed. If infection is suspected or occurs, immediate medical consultation is necessary. There have been reports of vision disturbances associated with the use of systemic or local corticosteroids, so if there are symptoms of blurred vision or other visual abnormalities, consultation with a specialist is required. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use it if the benefits outweigh the risks. Its safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and it is advisable not to use it in this population. This medication should only be used for direct application into the eye and should not be administered as an injection. Care should be taken during application to ensure the tip of the container does not come into direct contact with the eye. It is advisable to avoid shared use to prevent contamination of the medication. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Additionally, it should not be transferred to another container to maintain quality.
