Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. When using this drug, shock symptoms such as nausea, cold limbs, and difficulty breathing may occur infrequently, so if such symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be provided. Also, hypersensitivity reactions such as cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousness, vascular edema, airway obstruction, rash, urticaria, and itching may occur, so if these symptoms arise, use of the drug should be stopped. Temporary burning sensation, irritation, discomfort, redness, itching, conjunctivitis, keratitis, facial swelling, blurred vision, tearing, dryness, and eye pain may occur, and rarely, severe corneal disorders or serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, requiring immediate discontinuation of use. Auditory impairment or other irritation symptoms may also appear, so caution should be exercised if any abnormal signs are present. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, sensitivity tests should be conducted, and the drug should only be used for the minimum necessary duration, as prolonged use can lead to overgrowth of fungi or non-sensitive bacteria, so long-term use should be avoided. For trachoma treatment, the standard duration is 8 weeks, and any extended use should be determined with caution. During treatment, patients should avoid wearing soft contact lenses with preparations containing benzalkonium chloride. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this drug when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding mothers should either discontinue breastfeeding during medication or stop using the drug. Safety and efficacy in infants under 1 year of age have not been established, so use is not recommended. This drug is for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container opening with the eye. To prevent contamination, avoid shared use whenever possible. When storing, keep out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place. It is important to avoid transferring this drug to other containers to maintain its quality.
