This medication is used to improve symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and gastritis and duodenitis, such as abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting. It also alleviates symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon and is effective for habitual vomiting in children and non-infectious intestinal colic leading to constipation and diarrhea. It helps in treating various digestive-related diseases and symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, 100-200 mg per dose, taken orally three times a day before meals. Adjust dosage appropriately depending on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may affect the digestive system and rarely causes symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, abdominal sounds, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth, or a numb sensation in the mouth. There may be rare instances of increased heart rate, so caution is advised. Neurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, or lethargy, as well as headaches, may also occur infrequently. Since it can affect liver function, there may be instances of elevated liver enzyme levels; therefore, attention to liver health is necessary. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may occur rarely, so if any such symptoms arise, the medication should be stopped immediately. Due to uncertain safety during pregnancy, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication after consulting a doctor if the benefits outweigh the risks. Women who are breastfeeding should also avoid this medication as its safety has not been established, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so individuals with genetic disorders that prevent lactose digestion should not take it.
