Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to enhance blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes, alongside dietary and exercise therapies. It can be administered alone or in combination with other medications, helping to manage blood sugar levels more effectively.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 5mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to its active ingredient or any other component, or in those with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. When used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylurea drugs that may cause hypoglycemia, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Experience with this medication in heart failure patients is limited, so caution is advised. If acute pancreatitis symptoms, such as persistent severe abdominal pain, occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Skin conditions such as bullous pemphigoid may develop, so if blisters or skin erosion occur, inform a physician immediately and discontinue the medication if necessary. Common adverse effects that may occur during treatment include hypoglycemia, cough, constipation, and rash, while pancreatitis and skin disorders have been reported rarely. Elderly patients or those with impaired renal or liver function can generally use this medication without dosage adjustment, but it is advisable to consult a physician based on their condition. The safety of this medication has not been established during pregnancy or lactation, so it is not recommended for use, and caution is needed for nursing mothers. Use in children and adolescents is not recommended as safety and effectiveness have not been fully established. Drug interactions are generally minimal, but caution may be necessary when used with certain medications, so notify healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. In case of overdose, remove unabsorbed medication from the gastrointestinal tract, monitor symptoms, and provide appropriate treatment if necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and transferring to other containers may not be beneficial for quality maintenance.
