This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it decreases the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular procedures, and angina in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary artery disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. It also reduces the risk of fatal and non-fatal myocardial infarction and stroke, as well as hospitalization for congestive heart failure in patients who already have heart disease. It is used to treat hyperlipidemia, helping to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, while also increasing good cholesterol (HDL). It is effective in certain dyslipidemia patients who do not respond to dietary changes. This drug is used for improving cardiovascular health and cholesterol regulation.
