Precautions

This medication can cause severe allergic reactions, so if symptoms like skin rash or difficulty breathing appear within the first 3 months of administration, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur; therefore, if symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea arise, inform a healthcare professional immediately. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and it should not be administered if there is an allergy to this medication or any of its components. In patients with reduced kidney function, drug concentration may increase, requiring dosage adjustments, and regular monitoring of kidney function is important. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so blood sugar should be frequently checked and dosage adjusted as necessary when used in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents like insulin or sulfonylureas. This medication may cause side effects such as upper respiratory infections, headaches, nasopharyngitis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, so consult a physician if symptoms persist or worsen. If severe joint pain or skin blisters occur, discontinue medication immediately and seek specialist care. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use this medication, and safety in children and adolescents under 18 has not been established. Elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function, so a kidney function test is recommended prior to administration and careful monitoring during treatment is necessary. In case of overdose, routine emergency measures should be taken, and some of the drug may be removed by hemodialysis if necessary. This medication has a low potential for interactions with other drugs; however, monitoring by healthcare professionals is needed when used with cyclosporine or digoxin.
